As far as I know, there shouldn't be a hitch. It's really only apps and app modifiers (or anything that involves a process, such as a plugin) that are picky about the processor type, as a rule of thumb.
As for a good app to manage the fonts, I use the inbuilt Font Book but I'm no pro.
