Hey all, I have an external drive and was thinking of partitioning it into 2 partitions with one for my computer back up. I am looking to do a bootable backup on firewire.

I am not sure about these:
    1) Should I format it into mac os extened journaled? I have read somewhere that external drives shouldn't be journaled?
    2) Can one boot from external drives for an intel mac? I am confused about that. I know PowerPC you can.

    Thanks!!!!!

Make sure you use the GUID Partition Table (in one of the Options when you're reformatting it) and it shouldn't matter. It should then be bootable. :)
