I know people who are dumber than a rock. So it must be true.

Yeah, Fred Hoyle's buddy Chandra Wickramasinghe. Hoyle did important work before he went off the deep end a few decades ago.

Am I the only one who remembers their nonsensical criticism of Archaeopterix? It was beyond bizarre, and shown (many times over) to be completely wrong.

But that didn't stop them from blathering on.

Anything with Wickramasinghe's name on it needs careful vetting, because he doesn't have a good reputation as a careful researcher.

    Vetting as seen here:

    http://www.slate.com/blogs/bad_astr...wickramasinghe_of_diatoms_in_a_meteorite.html

    and elsewhere.

Thanks for the info. :) It did seem a little fishy that it wasn't being widely picked up.

These sort of threads are always food for fascinating thought, and I love reading them. Thanks to the OP for posting something that had not (it now seems with good reason) been picked up elsewhere.

And thanks, too, to monokakata, for posting this well argued rebuttal. Very interesting indeed.

Cool. Regardless of the truth, like finding this here because I didn't see it anywhere else, so big thanks.
