free alterntives to candy bar

i heard all about candy bar and i know how awesome an app is, but before plunging in and spending 13 bucks on it, does anyone know of any free apps that do the same job of candy bar so i can try those first?

CandyBar is probably the safest and easiest way to swap out a ton of icons. For the standard icon you can definitely swap 'em yourself (Get info> copy the icon you want> paste where you want the new icon to be) but for system icons (such as the Finder, dashboard, etc.) it's "safer" w/ CandyBar.

There should be a free demo download of CandyBar so you can test it out first. But it's pretty nifty.

Awhile back I purchased Candy Bar Plus which includes CandyBar and Pixadex (but I got it discounted from some retailer that offered educational discounts).
