does anyone know of any freeware image editor that i can use in conjunction with iPhoto? all i'm really looking for is something that can resize my pictures to a custom dimension, so i'm thinking that a freeware solution should be out there. thanks.

I am assuming you want to use your pictures outside iPhoto (otherwise why resize them). If you select your pictures and choose Export you can export resized images at pretty much any size you want. Other than that the Gimp (X11) required will resize images (and so much more) for free. Or install the ImageMagik unix command line tools (there is an OSX package) and use mogrify to resize them.

In addition to the above, you may have had a copy of Graphic Converter on your Mac when you bought it. It'll do the trick, too.

I just 'discovered' The Gimp - it's cool stuff.
