Wow, that's pretty cool... but also illegal as iGary is hinting at. :p I would try it, but I would have no use for this without a remote.

I can confirm it works. Although you can tell it was made to work with a remote.

    Cool mod:
    create apple script---

    tell application "System Event"
tell application "Front Row" to activate
key code 53 using command down
    end tell

    --then compile and save.

Use an app like Xkeys to assign a key to launch the applescript. Takes about a second.5 to launch.

I would most definately download it if I had the remote...otherwise its just stupid. Hopefully apple will come out with some type of usb remote or one that works via bluetooth.

But, damn it can be slow to load some stuff. I think it has to launch the app to load content from it.

Anyone have trouble playing music? I keep getting an error.

It was definitely slow to load my photos and I got an error trying to play music from iTunes. Why cant Apple just sell this stuff and gimme a damn Bluetooth remote?

I couldn't get it to work.

I did everything it said, rebooted, double checked to see if I put everything in the right place, then rebooted again. The app opens but nothing happens.

This isn't exactly a secret anymore. The program is spreading all over the internet, so it's already common knowledge. But let's discuss please. :p

It appears Apple worked hard to make this program difficult to copy, by hiding it in all sorts of odd places no normal person could know. I won't bother until Apple officially releases this software for older Macs.

Remoteless makes this pretty lame...and risky.

Give Apple a few weeks to get the last of the new things for the Christmas market.

I don't know if it's risky, but I bet it would be lame. Unless Front Row works with other remotes, or the iMac remote can work with older IR equipped Powerbooks or other Macs (my PB G4 400 w/ IR died a few months back anyway) it wouldn't be worth it.

 ... It works... Nearly flawless... Music played well... A little too well; continued playing during a movie trailer! I tried everything except a DVD, all worked perfectly, a tad slow at loading, but it worked... iTunes playlists and everything... But yeah, I need a remote...

How is it risky? It all works fine for me now, just a little pointless without a remote.

Once you open it, you have to hit ESC for a few seconds for it to pop open. Did you do that?

    i Love it!

I think its a great app!

It is slower than I would like - I think it might be written in Core Image, 9600 with 128MB works.

I've also looked through some of the HD H.264 footage, put your energy settings to 'maximum' when you use this - it'll make the experience that mich nicer.

I dont know why you're all complaining about a lack of remote - I think a Bluetooth Keyboard does great! Just go through the programs with the 'left' or 'right' buttons!

Apple should maybe make more of there little apps for us to have fun with....what with the crap support for games an' all. Need to get me Sims 2 when I graduate!

I have the Keyspan Express remote, http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/urm17a/, anyone think I could get this working with Front Row? I haven't installed Front Row yet, I just don't see the point until I can get a remote working with it. Maybe I should just install it and play around with the Keyspan remote settings.

It works with my keyspan wireless remote. :)

    http://www.keyspan.com/products/homepage-Remotes.spml

Edit: Oops, didn't read all of the posts. :p I can confirm that it does work with the keyspan. All of the frontrow actions are available via keyboard commands so you just assign the keyspan remote's global functions to those keys.
