i've been on a bit of a reading jag lately and came across a must read for present/future/aspiring film makers/editors...and sound guys too.

"The Conversations. Walter Murch and the Art of Editing Film."

if you don't know who he is...he was the film editor for Apocalypse Now, The Godfather(I,II,III), American Graffiti, The Talented Mr Ripley and a slew of others.

he won oscars for both film editing AND sound editing for the English Patient...(being a sound guy, thats how i first heard of him).

the man has amazing theories and insight on film making.

anyway, the book is mind blowing...like a conversation with the old master in the Kung Fu series:D (snatch the edit from my hand, grasshopper...)

just thought i'd pass it along.
