My G4 MDD has 3 X 512 DDR SDRAM PC2100 "U" RAM. I want to max out the ram for the machine. Can I put PC2100 (NOT "U") RAM into it? Will it function properly. Essentially, what is the difference between PC2100"U" RAM and PC2100 NOT "U" RAM? Please advise.

Thank you!

Don't know about that "U" but I know what you are talking about and I've had both types in my G4/G5s before.

You can install up to 2gb(4x 512mb), Sorry 4x 1gb won't work as the hardware can't support it but it would have been cool :p.

You can install faster memory if you can find it at a cheaper price which usually it is and will automatically downclock to 266mhz speeds. PC2700(333mhz) and PC3200(400mhz) should also work fine no problem as long as you buy quality low-density ram.
