G5 Quad Starts the goes blue

    My month old G5 Quad has a problem Help Please.

    When I started it this morning it went through it's start up but when the screen that i would normally input my password it's nothing but a blue screen.
    mouse works keyboard works caps lock works.

    last night I went to shut down and it got stuck at a blue screen.

    Any sufggestions?

    Have you installed any new hardware? It could be a driver problem?

    Have you installed any new software that could be crashing startup or shutdown?

    Back-up and try and verify then repair disk permissions.
    (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility )

    Thank for your reply

    No no new hardware, no new software within the last week.

    I don't understand how do I do that if I can't get to any apps or my desktop?

    Do I use the disk that came with the machine?

    Also ran a hardware test and everything passed.

    Sorry i completely forgot you couldn't startup.

    Insert the OS disks and in the top left menu there should be the option to run Disk Utility.

    There you can verify disk permissions and repair.

    Let us know how it goes.

    I started by holding down the shift key when the grey apple appearded.

    I actually updated office yesterday prehaps that was what cause the conflicts.

    Thanks for you prompt help and replies I really helped to know I wasn't alone.

    Now I must back-up and get to work big deadline this week.
