I want to install Cyanogen Mod 10.1 on my Galaxy S4 with Verizon. I have already successfully rooted the phone. I attempted to use both Goomanager and Recovery Tools to install TWRP and Clockwork recoveries. Each app told me the recovery was successfully installed, however I got error messages both times. With TWRP I got the big android guy on the screen that said DOWNLOADING. With Clockwork, I got a message saying to take the phone into a verizon store. I was successfully able to reboot the phone each time by going into download mode and canceling. According to a 3rd app I downloaded, ROM manager, it recognizes that both custom recoveries are currently installed. How do I boot into one of them?

Isn't the bootloader on the Verizon s4 locked? You can root it, but I'm not sure that you can get a custom recovery on it.

I believe it is only possible with a particular baseband and if you took a certain OTA you are SOL, but I am not savvy with Verizon devices.

Um are you sure you're actually pressing the right buttons to go to recovery? Looks like you're pressing the buttons for download mode. Try opening GooManager and tap on "boot into recovery" or whatever it's called.

Also you should ask the fine folks at XDA forums about this.

Like Spyder said, you are booting into download, not recovery. You can either download Goo Manager and boot into recovery from the app, or turn off your phone and then hold the power button to boot into recovery.
