TechCrunch reports that French game developer Gameloft reported its 2009 financial results today, specifying "iPhone revenue" of 17.6 million Euros, or about $24.5 million. That number was up 231% over 2008, and was responsible for approximately 14.5% of Gameloft's total revenues for the year. Gameloft's iPhone revenue was even more impressive when considered only under the fourth quarter of 2009, where the segment was responsible for nearly $10 million in revenue, or 22% of the company's total revenue.
Gameloft is a major player in the mobile gaming industry and a frequent participant in app demonstrations at Apple's iPhone-focused media events.

Jesus, maybe that means they can afford to come up with some original games for once

Still, good on them, shows the market is booming.

What I don't understand is, where you learn how to program for the iphone. Basic stuff, things that i can use for myself, not for sale. Aren't there good sites for that? For dummies? :)

    1) 30% of 24.5m = 7.2m.

    2) Apple CFO told everyone just last week that App store is barely breaking even after the infrastructure, censorship, credit payment handling etc costs.

Actually, we should assume that the $24.5M is just Gameloft's take, or 70% of the selling price. This would mean that the total sales would be $35M (when you add Apple's 30% back in).

So Apple got about $10.5M out of the deal.

    Not too shabby.

The CFO must be on crack, if one company brought them that much, imagine the amount for all developers selling. I can't see apple spilling millions just to manage the itune store, considering how many things they now sell there.

On top of that, its the Store that makes iPhone/iTouch and now iPad the big seller. Apple is flush with capital, a lot of companies would love to sell to a limited market and make that much ROI.

But then maybe Apple is into downplaying returns to make the competition think its not worth the hassle.

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7D11 Safari/528.16)

I'm pretty sure that a CFO lying would be considered fraud and the SEC would be all over apple. so it would not be in Apple's best interest to lie about this

REason why the App Store is Number !

This is the reason why the iPhone is numero uno when it comes to consumer attraction the app store is simply amazing and the revenue it brings to App developers is just as great.
