Ok I know (at least I think I do) that the first generation of iPods were the one with the firewire port on top, right? And had the MENU, PLAY, FF, and RW around the touch pad? The third generation were the last one where the buttons were all touch sensative. And obviously the fourth generation are the current ones. Then which were the 2nd gen iPods?

The second gen looked just like the 1st gen except instead of a rotating scroll wheel it was touch sensitive. It also had a cover for the Firewire port built in.

I believe they shipped with differing ear-buds too.

The 1G iPods had earbuds with holes instead of mesh over the speaker, and the foaam pieces were grey instead of black.
