I'm looking for options on how to let users input something like "national museum of american history" and use some API to convert that into a latitude / longitude. I was planning on using the Google Maps API but I'm not sure if that's possible.

Does anyone know of other APIs I could use for this? Do you know of any tutorials that would help me figure out how to deal with the returned data (XML, JSON or whatever) from an API in the iPhone SDK?

    Thanks.

you could use the microsoft map point api. Granted it has to be done in .net so it would have to be a webcall to get data from a website that you create.

Thanks for the idea. Do you know if they let you use their service with commercial apps?
