My 2 month .Mac trial is coming to an end and I don't think I'll subscribe since the only feature I ever use is iDisk.

Having said that, I am really hooked on iDisk and want to know, how can I get by without it? I use a powerbook at home and a PC at work and enjoy the convenience of being able to share files and mount online storage. I have a web hosting account, but it doesn't seem to support webdav. Is there some free or very cheap alternative out there, or some kind of makeshift solution?

try ftp from one box to another, or ssh, if you feel more inclined to do that. You'll still be limited to your linespeed and ISP's monthy bandwidth alotments (as you were with .mac) but it will do what you want.

If all you're doing is moving files from place to place, maybe one of those USB memory sticks might suit you?
