Has anyone else see the footage of Dick Cheney with reports and a passer-by yells out "Go f- yourself, Mr Cheney". It's being shown a bit on SBS World News in Australia.

I find it funny because it's that cliché of Americans being polite with formality and refering to him as Mr Cheney.

It's a crass way of showing respect and being defiant at the same time.

I bet they won't bite the federal hand that gives them a 2,000 debit card, though.

I'd take everything they'd offer. But it won't take away the fact they were abandoned for more than 2 days. I can't imagine $2000 will buy many people's favour.

No, it was a serious request. Cheney has finely tuned the art of ****ing himself as the ultimate party trick. Someone just wanted to be entertained.

Well, the "formality" is merely for sarcasm's sake. It could be worse:

[British aristocracy] "I say, old chap, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, would you mind very much f***ing yourself? Thank you so much." [British aristocracy] ;)

The "Mr Cheney" didn't sound sarcastic to me. Ah well, it still made me laugh. I love watching politicians awkwardly reacting to things like this.

Was it the UK politician, John Prescott, who ended up punching a heckler?

Not the best photo but it's a start. Somewhere out there is a MPEG clip of the actual event...

Personally....I think it was really rude to say that. Just goes against my morals and ethics.

Cuffing and detaining a man for not breaking the law. Sounds like bullying tactics to me.

I'm sure he was arrested by the SS to determine if he was an actual threat to the VP... But if that's the case, shouldn't the Capitol Police have cuffed Cheney to make sure he wasn't planning on harming Leahy? I mean, if cussing someone out constitutes a threat these days...

It's not like the guy screamed Allah Akbar while ululating.
