GOG.com -- short for Good Old Games -- has brought 50 older PC gaming titles to OS X, many on the modern Mac OS for the first time.

The games include Sim City 2000 (for only $2.99), Syndicate ($5.99), Wing Commander ($5.99) and the Ultima series ($5.99).

GOG.com is probably not a name familiar to many Mac users, but it's been around for years selling classic and out-of-date games on Windows. The Loop has more:
GOG.com, originally Good Old Games, has been around for the last four years, and originally made a name for itself offering Windows users a way to buy and download vintage games that have long since gone out of circulation, relying on emulation and other similar technology to work. The company licenses titles from a variety of publishers and is zeroing in on 500 titles in their catalog.
Sim City 2000, as an example, runs in an self-contained emulated DOS environment with seemingly no hiccups. The company says the original 50 games are just the beginning, promising to bring more games to the Mac in the future.

That sucks that it's not like the late Windows version of SimCity 2000, with the better graphics and the hidden debug menu. :)

I'd consider buying that

This is awesome! Kind of reminds me of DOSbbox. Very cool! :)

I have recently been re-buying my old Mac games at thrift stores as the PC versions. Since usually you can run them via DOSbox without too many issues. :D

Hope they expand to even more titles that never made it to mac back in the day. (Nice to have the option to play Sim City 2000 again.)

Yep, what a great game Syndicate is!

Not to mention that the Mac-native version of Syndicate (for System 7 and above) was REALLY great back in the day - I've spent hours and hours playing it on my Quadra 605! :D

I was very happy to see this. I have been buying many games off of GOG for the past year now. It now seems that my Windows partition on the Mac is becoming even less useful! :D

Can you still type PORNTIPSGUZZARDO to get $500k and all the rewards in Sim City 2000? Then keep typing ARDO over and over to get $500k each time.

Do I get to play already purchased version on Mac as well like with Steam or do I have to purchase them again? If the later is the case ill just stick to Boxer (or my Windows partition) to play already purchased games.
