Hey guys, I'm going to the Gay Games Opening Ceremonies tomorrow night (July 15th). It's gonna be a blast as I have many friends participating in the games. I have friends on the football, tennis and water polo teams.

Now of course, there will be protesters outside Soldier Field. Usually I'm prone to get quite nasty with them, but I don't want to do that. I could also ignore them, but that's no fun. :)

So any suggestions for something to say to them when they start throwing Bibles at us?

Get some gay porn and hand it out to them. Ask them if they've "heard the good noise". ;)

Be as flamboyant and feminine as possible, while making out with every guy in site (gay or not!).

Or, just wear a shirt that says "Jesus loves me too!" - nothing would make a Bible thumpers blood boil more.

I would be evil and rip up a bible in front of them. But that would be me because i am against religion, not anything to do with them being anti-gay.

    T-shirts would be great

Examine their clothes to see if they're made of more than one type of cloth...

Don't have any protest advice but there's a musical called "Group Therapy" you should see. It started off as SF only but they got invited to the Gay Games this year.

Its fabulous and I usually hate musicals, think you'll enjoy it. ;)

Those are AWESOME. I bet I can run down to Gaymart or Beatnix and find some like that.

Thanks vniow, but I'll prbably be going to more of the sporting events to support friends. I don't know how much of the other stuff I can get to due to time. :(

Well whatever you do don't go and punch a protester in the face. A person did that during the gay pride parade here in Calgary and they got arrested and charged obviously.

It ended up making the parade look really bad because
1)There were only 2-3 protesters TOTAL with their "god tells me to hate you" signs.
2)The guy did it in right in front of some news cameras.

But on the plus side there was some nice video of a bigot getting beat up by a guy in a pink shirt :p

No worries. They usually back away if you go near them. They think gay is contageous. :)

It is! That's why I wear the Super Gay Danger Suit when my gay friends come over. Have to clean out the fridge afterwards, too.

Time Out covered the Gay Games fairly well. They pitted Andersonville against Boystown in a battle of which neighborhood is nicer to live in. Andersonville won. I think the Big Gay Rockets of Love had something to do with it.:D

Be yourself and completely ignore them. That's what I would do. :)

I like the T-shirt idea. A straight guy's perspective here, but I would imagine a slight re-interpretation of the above ~ "God Loves Me Too" ~ makes things nicely generic, is not offensive in any specific way yet gets the message across to your intended audience nice and clear.

Or is it the gay way to be more in your face? :p

You could look really gorgeous and have a t-shirt saying "Who would Jesus do?". :p

Look, there's nothing you can do to calm down wacko protesters. No matter what you do, they'll hate you. These people don't think and don't want to. I'm just trying to have a bit of fun with them without getting myself too worked up.

Why would he want something that's not offensive? I know if I was in Lee's position, I would want something as offensive as possible, considering the crap the protestors say about gay people.

If you feel like getting fined for indecent exposure, you could wipe your ass with pages of the bible....might be worth it :D

Absolutely right. Unfortunately I can't think of a single idea to help - my brain seems to have seized up tonight. Have fun.

Haha! That would be great! Can you imagine? Some of them would faint and start foaming at the mouth! :D Ah but- my days of wanting to clash with the cops are over. :)

Yeah I did. I'm tired of their unfettered bigotry. I just leave them be because the stress of dealing with such people gets to me sometimes. :(

If anything, something like the T-shirt idea suits me. :)

Huh, I guess. Such behavior would be quite revealing of one's character. I would say it's nearly as low as the bigoted protesters. :(
