It's crazy to see so many brands put out products in a never before thought of market segment solely based on the rumor that Apple is planning on creating a product in that market...

Yes, Apple is literally the only reason Google is doing this. 100% the only reason. No other reason at all.

It is an empirical fact that Apple invented the idea of such a device, just like they invented the MP3 player, tablet, laptop, desktop, television, set top box, and any other product they make. The only reason any other manufacturer makes any of those devices is because Apple makes them.

Um, this is Mac :apple: rumors not android rumors, why would this be posted here?

Because the habitual bashing of Apple's competitors regardless of the content of the article is what keeps half of these forums alive?

Re: Samsung moving to Tizen to control their own destiny

There's absolutely no evidence of this whatsoever.... in fact it's likely that Motorola Mobility was sold to Lenovo to appease Samsung and the other OEMs and guarantee they stay with Android.

Have you seen a Tizen smartphone? I have. The UI looks terrible, but it's a start.

Oh, and it's likely that Motorola Mobility was sold to Lenovo because Google had no idea how to use their patents or engineering "talent." Best to dump MM and cut losses. But really, what was the point of buying MM in the first place?

And as for appeasing Samsung, isn't that kind of a tail-wags-dog thing?
Or maybe not.

Google kept vast majority of the patents (23,000 out of 25,000) and the Advanced Technologies & Projects unit (the best of the engineering and design workers) so I don't think that was it.
