Government by Contractor

    The funny thing is, conservatives generally eat this **** up. Private contracts are put forth as a saviour, and a preventer of the waste and fraud and abuse that government is supposed to inherently contain.

    What they don't see is that it isn't the government that's the problem -- it's the people, specifically the people who are less than honest, who are the problem. And with contractors you have less control and less oversight of the money the government "steals from you at the point of a gun."

    Just looking at the administrative costs of Medicare vs. your average HMO should put the lie to the "private companies are always more efficient than government" line that conservatives like to push.

    But, as I've said before, what do you expect when you elect people into government who have a professed hatred for government?
