As previously announced, Rockstar Games' classic Grand Theft Auto III is coming to the iPhone and iPad on December 15th.
The iOS version of the game will work only on more recent devices as a result of extensive graphics hardware requirements. GTA will run on the iPad 1 & 2, iPhone 4 & 4S, and iPod touch 4th Generation.

Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition will be available on the App Store next week for $4.99.

That's absolutely incredible. Who would have guessed 10 years ago that we'd be playing GTA3 on our PHONES?

I'll definitely get this if it runs well and the controls are good. If it's gonna be a PITA to play on iOS, then I'll pass. I'm just not sure how well the controls will translate to my 4S.

Woow i still remember when i was jealous of the consoles when i read the review on GTA3, as it was a console exclusive for some time. Otherwise been playing GTA since the first one.

Will be getting this for the iPad.

A must buy if 2 things happen:

    1) Universal App
    2) Cloud saves.

See this is why "I" would love a bigger screen. When I try to play Dead Space it's a pain.. Pretty cool but will be way easier on a Tab.

I'd be very interested to see what sacrifices were made to get it running on A4 devices vs A5 devices. Particularly, is it still native Retina resolution on the 4th gen Touch, since it is RAM constrained compared to the iPhone 4 and downclocked compared to the iPad 1.

    Universal - neccessary.
    Cloud saves would be awesome.

WOW, GTA 3 on the iPad. Good luck trying to play it with your screen controls! When is Apple gonna realise that games like COD etc on iOS devices need an actual dual stick controller and that they are missing a trick by not letting the Apple TV run these apps on peoples big screen with said wireless controllers??

The last thing I want on my computers are games.

...but I might be tempted to try this out on the iPad. Could be neat.
