Now I'm not a big CompUSA fan, but I was in there yesterday looking for an external hard drive enclosure. I was wandering through the Apple section just for fun like I always do when I'm in there. I was talking to the Apple specialist who was surprisingly knowledgeable. They had two of the previous iMac models left in the store. I picked up a 17 inch 1.8 gigahertz iMac for $999. I couldn't pass that deal up. I already have an iSight. I'm guessing there are other good deals to be had at other Apple retailers.

This should last me till the new Intel Macs come out. I'm going to slap another 512 MB of RAM soon too.

That's awesome! More people should think about doing this, especially when the Intel Macs come out and make every G4 laptop (seem) obsolete.

Good to hear that some CompUsA's are priced well.. mine, however, is not.

They seem to be trying to hide the fact that there are newer powermacs out. They're stocked way above reach, with the old models on display with "Manager's special" priced about $100 less than they were before the dual-core release.

My CompUSA has similar good deals. This summer I almost got a $400 mini, but then decided to save the money so I could get a PowerBook instead of an iBook.

Cr2sh, seems like your CompUSA isn't a very fun place. I hope people do their research before going there.

I never have good luck finding Apple products at CompUSA either. I just lucked out this time. They always have the older stuff sitting out on display. At least the Apple guy at the one I usually go to pretty helpful.
