    Hey all,

I have posed this question on macosxhints.com but have not been able to get this problem fixed.

I did an archive and install of os x but when I go to boot using the os x partition I get to the grey screen with the apple, I wait for a few seconds of the wait symbol then a line of code shell prompt shows.

I have done the fsck -y and the partition seems to be ok. I have reset the pram I have the latest firmware installed I cant seem to fix this. I really dont want to loose the stuff on my HD as I have alot of music set up in iTunes and alot to digital pictures. I can back them up but I thought an archive and install would work fine.

    Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance Mac Community.

somehow you have gotten your computer to boot into single user mode every time.

try holding 'x' at boot to force it into the OS X GUI.
