    GTA...

    which one:

    GTA the PC game?
GTA2 the PC game, also for PSX and Dreamcast I think?
GTA 3 the PC, PSX, XBOX game?
GTA 3 Vice City the PC, PSX, XBOX game?
GTA 3 San Andreas the PC, PSX, XBOX game?

in most cases, you cant play it on a mac.

Anything after GTA2 is going to be near impossible to emulate well enough to be as good as playing on the console.

you can probably play GTA: san andreas with bootcamp. GTA for PC is pretty sweet. The load times are insanely fast compared to a console, and the graphics a lot better.

load the game onto your HD ala a modded XBOX, no load times.

I play Vice City under Boot Camp on Vista.

Where abouts in/around Guildford do you live? I'm from that neck of the woods (when I'm not at uni).

I'm not sure about emulators for Mac - I know there are some, but I'm not sure about GBA.

Still, if you start down the emulator field you are in a tricky legal position anyway and so it's probably best stearing clear.

Why do you not like the sound of bootcamp and then actually playing the PC version?

Judging by his profile, he has an iBook. If that's the case, then I'm afraid there's not really any way you're going to be playing GTA.

GTA SA on Imac sound problem

I have trouble loading GTA SA on my system. It installed ok, but when I go to fire up GTA, it says something like 'no sound driver detected' and it won't let me load it.

    What should I do?

I am running XP Pro SP2 on
    24" Imac 2.16ghz Intel Core Duo, 1gb ram, 2x250gb HD's...

    thanks

You up to date on Boot Camp drivers? Maybe the 24" iMac doesn't have its drivers yet because I've been playing SA on my MacBook Pro since last summer/fall.

GTA:SA is great under Bootcamp. That (and Oblivion) is the reason my iMac has been stuck running XP for weeks now. It's not so bad, though.
