This is a little weird and slightly off topic, but as I was browsing the IMDB yesterday, I came across this poster for a movie called Laurel Canyon released in 2002,
    [IMG]
which looks exactly like the style used for GTA SA:

So what do you guys think? Did the GTA artists rip off the artist that made the Laurel Canyon movie poster?

they do look very similar although GTA has been doing the cover like that since as early as GTA3 (not sure about 1/2/london/ect)

i would think they would of caught on already....

They are certainly very similar that's for sure.... does it classify as a rip though? I'm not so sure.

Interestingly... I do believe that Laurel Canyon also predated GTA: Vice City as well, which was the first in the GTA series to feature the revised layout.

Out of interest... this is the guy that did the vector work for the San Andreas cover, I don't think he did the actual layout though.

Nah, that style is not so unique. It's been used in lots of places over the years. Besides, artists always "borrow" ideas from past art, that's just the way it is. Fantastic soundtrack to Laurel Canyon BTW, check it out if you get the chance, and not a bad movie either.
