Just to make sure, are you running Yosemite? I am using a GTX 970 with 10.10.3 and I am not having any issues with audio out through HDMI, DP or DVI.
Yeah, sorry should have stated that... 10.10.3 Nvidia driver 346.01.2f04 Edit: should also add running a 4,1 that has been flashed with 5,1 firmware...
You might have to wait for the next driver update. There hasn't been one since before the 980ti was released.
figured it the card might be too new... about this mac doesn't even show the 980Ti by name, just as Nvidia Graphics device...
Just thought I'd chime in. Updated to 10.10.4 and still no HDMI audio on my 4,1->5,1 with generic GTX 980. Web drivers installed, and verified the HDMIAudio kext is loaded. I get DP output to my 27" ACD but no HDMI out to the receiver. Works fine in bootcamp of course! Anyone know why hackintoshs are seeing success on Maxwell but not cMP towers?
Not sure why this is the case. For the longest time in Mavericks my GTX 570 would not get HDMI audio out on my Mac Pro 1,1 using the boot.efi method but if I booted Mavericks using Chameleon or Clover HDMI audio worked fine without changing anything other than the boot method. With the Hackintosh I have HDMI/DP/DVI audio out of the GTX 970.
I think the 6xx and 7xx Kepler series of nvidia cards respond to this. It's the new 9xx maxwell series that doesn't cooperate =\
Well I'm jealous of both of you. I'm using a GTX 970 as well and for the life of me can't get HDMI audio to work. I've tried HDMI audio kexts, different Nvidia Web Drivers. Maybe I'm not using the right beta driver? What version is your driver Hennesie2000?
I get the same in the Terminal but no HDMI Audio? Under 'Audio' in the System Profiler I have HDMI/DisplayPort and under PCI I have my graphics card and a weird PCI id for Audio? Any ideas Hennesie2000, I notice you said the Terminal report was normal? See pics:
The PCI id for audio is normal as well. On a hackintosh using clover and a dsdt you can change that name to match the GPU name. I'm on vacation at the moment so I'll take a deeper look at it later.
Has any one figured out how to make it work in El Capitan beta? I couldn't get sound output through my 780 in Mac Pro 2008 using HDMI.
Is there any way to get this working in the latest beta of El Capitan? From what I understand the option to remove SIP is no longer there.
Guys, I'm having trouble enabling HMDI Audio on my GT 640. Here is my system: Mac Pro 4,1 flashed to 5,1 OS X 10.10.4 (14E46) GT 640 4GB (NVIDIA Web Driver 346.02.02f03 & CUDA 7.0.61) 10.5.2 I installed HDMIAudio 1.1. I do not see any HDMI input in my System Report. Any suggestions? Thanks,
Can anyone confirm if they've got audio through HDMI working on OS X 10.10.5? My 2012 5.1 Mac Pro has been outputting audio on 10.9.5 just fine. So I took the plunge, reformatted and loaded 10.10.5 (no audio). Reformatted again and installed 10.10.2, still no audio. Card is the AMD radeon sapphire 7950 MP edition.
