i know this story is really old but i just found it off of bored.com. this guy gets a promo check in the mail and deposits it. a long series of adventures ensues. quite funny, and he uses a mac laptop to do his email correspondence with various parties involved. :D :p it's a *LONG* read. took me about an hour

    Great Story

Too bad the bank needed to be jerks all the way to the end. Goes to show you, no matter how nice your bank is to you, all they want from you is your money.

i would stick it to my bank. not because they have been bad to me, but beacuse i would legally own the money and the walton's own my bank, hardly a dent in their wallet.

We seem to be having a lot of great stories. With tragedies it is good to have some comic relief.

I assume that the story isn't really true, since the only references to it that I see around the web are HIS telling of it and links to HIS telling.

"Return the money, in pennies, by way of a dump truck."

"Get it all in $1 bills and from a window high above the street across from your bank, toss it all to the appreciative throng below."

"Use the money to place, in front of your bank, a colossal bronze sculpture of a pig, rearing up on its hind legs to reveal an inscription with the golden rule."

Those made me HOWL WITH LAUGHTER...god that was one funny story.

he he. great stuff. :D i've never seen that before

i'm only onto the second page now...

but if the bank did clear the check, that mean's the mail scammer was out for $95000!! :D i'd be keeping the money to finance futher anti-scammer operations.

hehe. funny stuff, and a good read as well.

Not necessarily. The scammer would be out that money only if the scammer's (originating) bank clears the check, even if Combs' (receiving) bank has already cleared it. Since this story is about banking goofs, you can't be sure, at least at page 2.
