Anyone else had a look at how bloody vulnerable the Diebold voting machines being pushed by the Fed really are? Do a google search. In the top ten listings are some very good how-to guides.

Is it just me or is a massive, orchestrated Hack the BEST possible outcome?

Really, think about it. If some clever folks out there set it up right all districts would report in 100% of votes for an otherwise impossible candidate (see: Steve Wozniak) for all votes on those goddamn machines. There'd be hell to pay. Do it with a fairly simple virus as demonstrated in the Princeton report and it would self-propogate through the system.

    Thoughts? Volunteers? :D Spooks?;)

RFK Jr. has been harping on this to the media lately. The new Robin Williams film "Man of the Year" is about voting fraud/malfunction on these machines that leads to him winning the election.

I'm all in favor of updating the voting machines and getting rid of those crappy punch cards and butterfly ballots that brought us the debacle of 2000, but there is no way we should EVER eliminate the paper trail.

Better to use a paper trail that's already guaranteed to a standard of security that's considered "safe": the ATM networks.

I just filled out my absentee ballot. It's fill in the bubble...just like those multiple choice tests you took back in high school. And it's great. No hanging chads, impossible to get confused by errors, and they can't be hacked. I think we should just use those

Just trying to imagine the reaction if every single Diebold machine out there came out with a final tally reading.

And just how do you say we get this virus on the machines? These machines do not touch the internet. You would have to physically take a disk of some sort and probably take the machine apart to get a virus in it.

As always in the past, the poor and minority districts will be discouraged from voting by any means possible.
They will use defective machines, defective log in software and challenge voters
at the polls just to reduce the number of voters likely to vote Democratic.

I fear that paper ballots will be lost or destroyed and that these vermin will stop at nothing to prevent themselves from being removed from office.

    This could get ugly.

I think we should just get everyone to stand in the town square and raise their hands. A quick count and it would all be done in half an hour and just as accurately as any other system.

poll workers visit each one with a card to initialize it. infected machines infect the card, which infects other machines. we had a thread on it here.

Several methods are available including forcing a modem-response via dialling into the local admin machine, adding a USB bluetooth or 802.11 adapter when voting, infiltrating the workers, spoofing the diebold software update servers, etc, etc

We must remember that Diebold has created "An Election System"
that will deliver the "desired results" to the highest bidder.

That is the reality of the situation.

It is my opinion that each party should employ a Notary at each polling station
to verify and record your WRITTEN vote and record it immediately to public records.

Exit polls should also record your selection as a back-up.

It's sad that the greatest democracy on earth has to question the accuracy
of the election process in any manner.

If it did, it might be. It certainly doesn't deserve that title as things stand.

Ours is just a paper ballot. You number the local candidates for the House of Reps in your order of preference then put it in the envelope and give it to the electoral official.

The ballots themselves aren't exactly diffcult, they have a name and then next to that name is a box - seems like the US decided that it would be easier to not put the boxes next to the names??

Hang on... yer not getting the full force of the spin here....

It's not: "America brings you the freedom to have a real democracy!"

    It's:

    "Freedom!
    and
    Democracy!
Brought to you by the Original Democratic Republic©, The United States of America®"

*cue music, cue dancing girls, cue fireworks*

    See the difference that makes?
