That's neat, but would messing with firmware void my warranty?

Nope, if worse comes to worse, all you need to do is reload the iPod's firmware and music, and it's back to new.

probably, if it breaks with the hacked firmware still installed... but if it fully breaks to the point where it wont turn on (hard drive problem), then what apple doesnt know can't hurt em :p

Nice link, thanks! Don't think it'll be so snazzy on my 3G, as if I needed another excuse to go for the iPod photo!

I will be trying this as soon as a mac port comes out.

Otherwise I could just borrow my neighbours USB iPod cable and try it on the PC downstairs.

    heres my questions:

now that someones figured out how to view, change and replace the ipods firmware, could they not somehow change it so that it would b used on older versions of the ipod. i guess trick it in a way to think its on a 4th gen ipod ?

    now that would be cool

How to hack this on OS X...if you don't want to wait for the Mac version. So you need a PC to hack your Apple iPod...too funny!
