I think they will at least show Halo onstage during the keynote and release a demo of it for mac. I wouldn't bet on the full version going on sale for about 2 months though.

Bungie has confirmed that Halo is coming to the Mac. But you shouldn't expect it too soon (it's a Mircosoft company...)!

The full version won't be ready until fall at the earliest...

...and I doubt that a playable demo will be ready now (and there are plenty of screens and movs of the x-box version, so a non-playable demo would be pointless). Although Bungie has said many times that Halo will be coming to PC and Mac, I'm pretty sure that they haven't officially announced that work has started on them yet. Anyone who has a link that says otherwise, feel free to prove me wrong.

We need a WebCam prgram for X. All we got is SiteCam, and that has shown to be a POS! We need something from apple, (iPhoto) that works with a variety of WebCams

Halo IS coming to the mac

I have been following the development of halo since the beginning, and I can assure all of you that there will be a mac version. It should come out this year. Before Microsuck bought out bungie, they were planning to release halo simeltaneously for the mac and the pc. The X-Box release delayed it, but it is still slated as being developped for mac. The bungie crew needed a rest after such a long development period.

On another note, I will not be around for the next little while- soRrY to dissapoint! :)

My neighbors finally took back the monitor they loaned to me, so I will not be able to post for the next little while. (anyone want to give me a 15-17" VGA monitor? cuz im just oh-so-cool :D )

    Halo For Mac?

A short while ago Apple removed the trailer for the game Halo from its website. Does anyone know if Halo is still being planned for the mac or has it been cancelled like Half-Life?

I almost was going to buy an X-box... just for Halo

My friends seem to think the X-box games are weak except for Halo and I have to agree with them

I just hope I'll be able to play against my X-box friends from my mac

    UT2K3

Theres alot I want from Apple (two button mouse, games, G5,etc...) But right now I want Macsoft to make an announcement that UT2K3 (Formerly UT2) will be released at the same time as it is for PC. Back to the subject. Halo looked sweet at first but once Microsoft bought Bungie and it started to take so long it just got less and less appealing.

Re: Halo IS coming to the mac

I've been a Bungie fan since the Marathon series. Then it was Myth. I made the mistake of buying MythIII, thinking it would improve over MythII. The network games on MythII were great, I never even bothered on MythIII (but MythIII wasn't produced by Bungie, it showed).

When they announced Halo, I was drooling. Such a great concept, open play concept, no boundaries, just keep playing. When Bungie was bought out by the evil empire I was shocked. I'm curious to see how Halo keeps to its original ideal, I know the Xbox version isn't exactly the same.

Does anyone know what will be offered differently over the XBox version?

    Re: Beej

U2 now called Unreal: Episode II is going to be released beween April and June for PC for Mac some time over the summer (hopefully) UT2 now called UT2K3 (Unreal Tournament 2003) will obviously be released in 2003 all the guesses ive seen say early Jan-March 03' (thats for PC) for Mac my guess is in April I hope. This all depends on when Macsoft decides to port it if they do.

    Well done Beej

UT is a game worth getting addicted to. I'm amazed anyone even wants to playe Q3:A when they can play UT.

Even though the 3D engine for the Quake (and soon Doom) series is supposed to be so great with its curved surfaces et al, the game just doesn't have the feel of control over the character you have in the Unreal series.

I have to say, the biggest advantage for me of UT is that it runs on very modest hardware. I play quite successfully (I'm sure anyone I've played may dispute this!) on my PBG3 333. I really hope they don't lose sight of the trailing edge market with the next Unreal titles.

As for Halo (hey, I managed to get back on-topic), don't you think Apple should have realised that Bungie were a great games company and that they had a killer title up their sleeves and found the money to buy them before Microsoft did?

We might have iHalo as a bundled killer-app in the games department with every Mac by now if that had been the case. Now I know this is wishful thinking, but Bungie started off as a creator of virtually Mac-only games in its early days. Apple should think long and hard if such a valuable company appears again, and snap them up before someone else does.

[I really hope Mac Halo is good. I've been waiting AGES for this game, and won't be buying a new Mac until I know what specs it needs]

Is there a carbonized/cocoaized version of UT for OS X yet?

I thought I had heard something about one and I'd like to get it. Currently I only have the pc version that I play on a crappy old pc.

    UT for Mac OS X

As far as I know, there is no carbonized version of UT for Mac OS X yet. But I hear that some developers are carbonizing it in their free time. I would have bought it months ago if a carbonized version existed. (Someone PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong!)
