It's astonishing how far the iPod has come in 5 years. That 5GB device seemed crazy five years ago. And now the full size iPod is so much smaller, plays videos, and has at least six times the capacity. Not to mention the gorgeous nanos and shuffles. Apple has done well. :)

I wonder how long it will be around for!

The "walkman" seemed like it would be around forever, but technology changed in unforseeable ways and now it's gone.

How could the recordplayer imagine a cassette tape, and how could a cassette tape imagine a CD, and how could a CD possibly imagine a iPod like device. You think we've reached the end of portable audio with these type things, and all thats left is convergance, so that as the years march on, you'll have this lump of silicon in your pocket with 50,000 songs, 1000 movies, the world's phonebook, GPS/Mapping devices and wireless business cards? How can it possibly be improved, except in size? There must be another giant leap yet to come that all of us will say "Why didn't we think of that" when it gets thought up.
