I was verifying my hard drive with disk utility when I got this message:

    Verifying volume “Lacie”
    Checking HFS Plus volume.
    Checking Extents Overflow file.
    Checking Catalog file.
    Illegal name
    Illegal name
    Incorrect size for file DSC_0043.JPG
    instead of %@)",2)
    Checking multi-linked files.
    Checking Catalog hierarchy.
    Checking Extended Attributes file.
    Checking Extended Attributes file.
    volume bitmap.",0)
    Checking volume information.
The volume Lacie needs to be repaired.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

    1 HFS volume checked
    Volume needs repair

I am unable to click "Repair Disk." What can I do to repair this? I am very inexperienced with this so I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!

You can't repair the disk you start up from so you can either use Disk Utility on the OSX system disks by putting them in the optical drive and pressing C as you boot up, selecting Disk Utility from one of the menus and repairing the disk.

Or even better, you can run fsck. :)
