FVWM is a linux virtual desktop program that alows you to create a virtually unlimited number of desktops. In the bottom right it shows a desktop matrix and you can select them by either clicking on them or just dragging your mouse off the screen to cycle through them. Thus it would allow you to have for example, a browser open in one, word open in one and dreamweaver in one, and to switch all you have to do is scroll of the screen. Now, FVWM is available for mac os x. You need the program, x 111, and a nother windowing prog like freeXbase (or whatever it is called) I havent had time to put it all together yet. Anyone know of anyone that has tried it?

the x11 multiple desktop (workspaces) programs only control the programs you're running under x11. there are several osx native workspace managers available (check for "virtual desktop" on vt, space.app is a good free one)
