I need comforting...

Just wondering if anyone at all in Australia has received Panther from the online apple store.

If anyone has, i will be comforted by the fact that my copy is not to far away!

If nobody has, then I will be comforted by the fact that Im not the only one without it!

Woodsey...

Well mine shipped last wednesday, and apple has sent me the receipt in the mail, but have not yet sent the OS!

This is so frustrating. hopefully it will come today (tuesday)

Meanwhile, back to the original question, has anyone in Australia received their copy of panther yet?

My copy arrived on Monday - think it was couriered. Got it from Paleographics here in Melbourne - $199 and free delivery.

Very happy with it. Installed it last night.

mine shipped monday, and I'm (a little foolishly perhaps) hoping it might arrive today. It's just a box? How long could it take?

Before panther was officially released the MacBytes store had heaps of copies out the back of the shop. I wanted a $35 upgrade but they told me to do that thru Apple.

yeah, i've got mine now... just doing some last minute backups... really makes you notice the slowness of a 2x DVD burner.

i would have had mine yesterday (Monday) except no one was home, so i missed the courier.

Tuesday 4:20 PM in Sydney and still no sign of the UtD disks that supposedly shipped last Friday... I received the sales receipt in my mailbox on Monday morning. Pathetic service from StarTrack Express... stuff shipped with Australia Post and even the US Postal Service over the past few days has arrived here quicker.

I've had my system backed-up since last Thursday ready for Panther... the wait is getting increasingly frustrating... I'm tempted to try and find a pirate copy off the 'net somewhere...

yeah, the wait is a bit slack.... i was thinking of going the 'net route as well. i mean i've paid for it, and there's places i could get it way faster...

very slack on the part of StarTrack Express. huh, Express.

Great, my Jaguar system just had a heartattack. Bouncing dock icons and spinning beach balls everywhere, even after a reboot. Did an Xbench benchmark to see if I wasn't dreaming... dropped from ~105 normally to 74. Please. ship. me. Panther. tomorrow.

Same here radz! I cant believe this shît! My order shiped last wednesday. thats a week ago!!! How can it posibly take this long. Its not like apple couldnt get it to Adelaide on time. NextByte would have recieved heaps of coppies on friday at the latest. But we have to wait another five days!!!

I hate to think of the people in Perth. Apple Australia will probably get one of their executives to chuck a few coppies on the the back of their ute and drive across the country, just to save a few dollars.

IM MAD!!! :( :( :( :(

Has anyone in *Sydney* received their UtD disks? Seems like people are getting them in Melbourne and Brisbane.

My disks *supposedly* shipped on Friday (I got the e-mail, the receipt on Monday, and my CC has been charged) but I think that's doubtful now -- it simply doesn't take 4/5 days to ship Sydney to Sydney (carrier pigeon included). I'll most certainly be giving Apple a call if I don't get them in the morning tomorrow.

When it rains it pours I guess, my opinion of Apple has fallen one or two notches in the course of a day... Jaguar causing me headaches, incompetent handling of the Panther shipments, a creaky PowerBook case above the optical drive, my old iPod having HD problems, and the discovery that iTunes for Windows is a horrible bug-ridden mess.

speaking about the UtD... i just got mine and couldn't wait to install it.

so first i partitioned my PB, then went to install from the UtD CD's. but it wouldn't let me because i didn't have a previously installed version of OS X. so the UtD CD's are not the full install!! sure you can erase and install, but that doesn't help much after you've already erased you Mac, then your only option is to re-install Jaguar, go through it's whole registration thing...!!

so just a word of warning to people out there. you can't do a genuine 'clean install' with the UtD disks, only 'erase & install'. if you want to partition, you should do it with the Jaguar install disks, then 'update' to Panther when you have all the partitions sorted out.

Got mine Tuesday @1pm.

Apparently there has been a bit of a distribution problem with Apple Australia according to the local dealer.

Panther seems pretty good, all the metal makes it a bit harder to distinguish individual applications though and network speed is improved a lot.

I like the sound on the lock opening and closing and Vicki is just too sexy for a computer voice. A husky porn star I reckon :)

3 PM Wednesday, nothing. Rang Apple Australia to check my order status. They told me that for some reason IT HAS NOT BEEN SHIPPED YET, and that they will have it sent by the end of the week. This is despite my order being listed as "shipped" on their website, receiving an invoice on Monday and having my CC charged. Absolutely disgraceful service for a preorder I put in on 10th October.
