Has anyone used Bulk Resellers for larger discounts? I have come across a few companies that claim to offer discounts up to 30% of built to order machines with the catch that you may wait from 7 weeks to 14 weeks before your order is shipped (waiting for a full palette of BTO machines to be ordered before distributed). Kind of sounds fishy to me, but just wanted to know if anyone has tried this or knows if it is indeed illegal.

Nope, Apple really can't offer discounts on bulk BTOs -- since each machine would be a custom configuration.

Now if a corporation wanted to bulk order 500 machines in a single custom configuration, Apple would probably work with them.

However getting 500 people to choose the same exact BTO is really a fantasy.

Quite a change from the scam which offered the discount on shelf stock, but put in the weasel words that they keep your "fee" if you don't buy -- and the discount isn't guaranteed (it's a target price they looking from from resellers, which will never happen), since you pay whatever they sell it to you at. Which means they'll wait until the machine is canceled and sell you an old machine.

Plus Apple's only real bulk reseller is Ingram Micro, and they really only sell to resellers.

bulk or not, you won't get Macs at 30% discount, period. (exceptions being apple official discounts - education, adc, etc.)

it's a scam, don't get your hopes up, move on and get it via better channels.
