Has UPS gone insane? ibook on U.S. tour: TOUR EXTENDED!!

Sounds like you guys are having real trouble with UPS in the States. I ordered replacements for my In-Ear 'phones on friday and the guy came on tuesday, which I thought was excellent, even stuck around for the return lable to be applied and the like!

I don't think UPS is a bad company, its just that little things seem to send packages on endless loops around the country.

IE: I live in a small town outside a major city. If you type in my zip code into UPS, it pulls up as the major city, even though I technically live in the smaller location. If you don't manually change the city, however, the package ends up not being delivered, because my address does not exist.

The delivery date went away and it changed to INTRANSIT but it still has not been scanned or moved. I thought that meant it would be here today but no luck. Has anyone had this happened and had any damage or theft happen in the progress?

UPDATE - the pissed off has worn off and now its just funny. They found it again! It made it home and then to CT! Check it out! Remember this was second day air shipped on valentines day!

I am real glad right now it was insured! But Ive never been to Conneticut or philadelphia so I am glad it has. Another update the tracker now says I will get it tomorrow. But this is the 4th delivery date they have given me. (And its always tomorrow!) I am definitely not taking off early from work this time. I will update if there is any more interesting side trips, but I hope that this is over.

I wonder, on a large scale how much this sort of inefficiency is costing UPS. Imagine out of all their thousands of deliveries a day if they have a hundred deliveries (per day) that get stuffed up like this. I think yours is an extreme case, but even so, it's not what you'd call a good system.

This is a really funny story, but also very disturbing.

I wonder if you've considered telling UPS you're going to start initiating an insurance claim and full refund of shipping costs, since they've "lost" your package?
At the worst, they'll give you the money back, but at the best it might speed up the process and push them to finding the thing and actually shipping it to you.

The tracker says its on the truck. 9 days on 2nd day air! I will take some pics of it tonight when I get off work. I really hope its OK.

They said it should be here today, I hope that's true. Would that refund go to the seller or to me? It was off ebay so I paid for shipping.

The refund would go to the seller since they are the shipper. You paid for shipping but you paid it to the seller/shipper, not directly to UPS. They then paid UPS for shipping when they shipped it. Any concerns about service need to be brought up by the shipper and not the shippee. Hope that helps.

Yes I got it. It boots ups the screen goes funny and it freezes. Bad logic board or screen problem. It really sucks. I did a reinstall of the software and froze 5 times during the process. Now the screen sometimes comes up. Half the time it doesn't. I am so pissed!!!!!!!! I called UPS and I have to try to get the refund from the guy who sold it to me after they pay him

The DVD works fine. I am thinking about switching it with a 600 ibook cdrom for my troubles.

They are now picking it up tomorrow to be inspected. I also got them to send it back to me after they are done with it (2 weeks). So it will all work out. I will now get an extra 256mb ram stick, dvd/cdr drive, and an airport card. I will also have a case to sell on ebay, plus a full refund. This disaster ended up bringing anger, laughter, and an upgrade for my girlfriend's ibook. I still would not like to go through the trouble again. Thanks for all your support. There was no need for me to think those evil thoughts now that I know I will get the money and a parts computer.

Here is the story:

I put in a damage claim. Instead of inspecting the damage and returning it to me and refunding the money, they sent it back to the seller without inspecting a thing. It was like it was returned to sender. I did not refuse the package. I have no idea what idiot is responsible for this current round of retardation. The seller has now aranged for it to be picked up and have a damage inspection on monday. So here it is the start
