and where are they located on the MBA SSD so I can delete them? I am backing up to time machine on a 500G HDD, the backups occurred when I moved my tunes library to the HDD....

    What is an "acc HDD"?
Anyway, you can disable local TM backups in Lion via this Terminal command:
    Code:
    sudo tmutil disablelocal
Take a look at DiskInventory X (will not work in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion), OmniDiskSweeper, JDisk Report or GrandPerspective to see where your SSD space went to.

acc = accessory outboard USB HDD

    disabled via terminal - thanks

but why all of a sudden after deleting itunes - and it's exact same size as tunes deleted...as I understand it, no backups occur on the SSD if a external HDD is attached and used...
