Press the metal button in the middle of the laptop. The direction of the apple should be facing away from you so when you open it and look at the apple it will be rightside up. Have fun with your new powerbook!!

There is a white apple design on the lid of your laptop.

Turn the laptop so that the stem of that apple is facing TOWARD you and the bottom of the apple is facing away (upside down).

On the edge of the laptop that is facing you, you will see a tiny, little silver button. Your fingertip should suffice--or use your fingernail to depress it. Push it in. This releases the latch. The lid should pop up. Not way up, just release up. Lift the lid.

Powerbook is now open. If you shut it closed, it will latch again.

Once it is open, press the silver button located in the upper right-hand corner above the keyboard--that will turn it on.

    Enjoy! :)
