    Hmmm

What program were you writing the paper in? MS Word?

If so, try dragging that file to the Desktop and changing the file extension to .doc instead of .dpImageCache and then double-click on it. It is worth a try. :)

    Better Solution?

Try Norton Utilities. If you dont know already, its software that can recover data that was deleted, among other things. I dont know if it is available for OSX, but I know it is for OS9. Either way, your daya can be recovered.

That file was actually a folder containing all my documents. Actually I got Norton Utlities and runned Unerase. But in where it says "Drive to scan", the box is empty and there is no way to scan it.

Thing is, Unerase needs to be installed before the file is trashed...it can't recover things that were trashed before it was installed.

If money is no object, you can take the drive to a data recovery specialist and pay a lot to get the data back...other than that...you're stuck.

What kind of debate do you do? If you do Value Debate you can easily rewrite the cases in 2 days :p

yea, it's called Lincoln Douglas debate

but the prob is, my cases were GOOD!!!

argggh, it's gonna be hard to reconstruct the syllogisms.

what's the point of the cache file then?

If you threw away both the paper copies and the electronic ones, before installing unerase, you sure were being thorough.

Even though you've deleted it, the file is still on the drive. Only the link to the start of the file has been removed from the file catalog - until it's overwritten by the next file needing free space.

And no, I don't know what programs are available to read all sectors on the drive. If the drive is relatively unfragmented, the file may be in one piece.
