Hi, I'm using the iMac in my sig and i just got done downloading Vista RC1, and I have everything burned, but when I booted up XP and put the DVD in it says "Your computer can't run this version of the operating system." Does anyone know how I can install it?

Unless you have 1337 haxing skillz, you're going to have to wait until Apple updates Boot Camp to allow Vista installations.

Which will probably come with Leopard unfortunately.

It's actually Microsoft's fault. Originally, EFI support was going to be in Vista rather than just BIOS, but they took it out upon the Intel announcement by Apple, because they wanted to screw Apple into not being able to have easy Vista installs.

Actually, I had absolutely no problem installing Vista RC1 on my MacBook. No hacks needed (see this site). Unless something is different on the iMac, it should be able to install with boot camp, provided he actually has an RC1 build and not an earlier one.

Shouldn't this be in the Windows on the Mac forums?

Are you sure you burnt the disc right? Vista installed easily when I put the disc in my iMac.

i had no trouble with vista on my mbp. Do you have the 32 bit version of the imac or the 64bit and did you download the right version?

edit: also i never had xp on my mbp. When boot camp assistant asked for the xp disk i popped in the vista rc1 and it started up.

You need the 32-bit for Intel Core Duo. Intel Core 2 Duo is 64-bit. :)
