I just got my first ipod last night, and I plugged it into my new 15"Al powerbook to let it charge all night. But when I checked it in the morning, the power bars on the ipod were still blank.
So then I plugged the ipod into the wall/outlet adapter and let it charge all day, but I just checked it and ...nothing, still blank. WHAT THE F**K?! (venting)

Both charge attempts were at least 10 hours, and yes I took all the plastic off, and the ipod says it's charging and even says "Charged" when I take it off the dock. but.... the battery bars are blank!

Granted this is my first powerbook and first ipod ever, but what am I doing wrong? Is this a bug... oops, I mean feature?

So long, and thanks for all the fish!
Does the iPod work, and the bars are empty. If an iPod battery is uncharged, it will show a small battery warning graphic and immediately shut off. It's possible that there is a glitch in the iPod OS. My 2G 10GB iPod did that from time to time, but I have not had the problem with my new 3G iPod. If the iPod plays, you might want to call Apple, and make sure that there is nothing wrong with it.

I have had similar problems with mine if I leave it in the dock all night, when the computer is asleep or off, when I check it in the am, the battery is totally drained, even though I turned the ipod off. But it's weird that happens with the ac adapter. You could try to run the software restore in the ipod upadater software, as they will likely have you do that anyway if you call apple. Then sit it/plug it in to your power source or choice (computer or wall) when you know you will be around and see if it will take a charge and reflect it properly - apple's docs say it should be 80% charged in one hour. If not, then applecare might deserve a call. There is a link for self-service now for ipods in the support files on the website, might save some time too.. good luck.
