Been getting lots of email the past two days claiming "mail delivery error" and similar, but with different names. Same HTML document (missing the final /HTML ) and with someone in Germany as the email contact.

Told the German email firm about it, but they bounced my letter with a buried comment, "we don't accept mail from spammers".

Tonight, though, I'm getting different HTML with the same "mail delivery error" subjects.

Would my ISP (Earthlink) realize I'm not originating this crud? What should I do about it (other than contact Earthlink, which I have done and am awaiting a reply)?

i suspect someone, but not you, is the victim of a virus. one that reads their address book (w/ your address in it) and sends spam w/ your addy as the return address.

naturally, any bounced messages would be sent to you.

i've been getting those for a while, courtesy of a virus in the computers where i took some classes. most of my classmates saw it too.

the best was when i got an email "from" a woman i know, directing me to a porn site.

Interesting...

BTW, I just got an email from a SysAdmin about another spam attack, but this time there was a) an IP addy, and b) a reference to:

http://spamcop.net/

I sent the SysAdmin a reply and it hasn't bounced yet, so maybe I'm in luck.
