This sounds too good to be true. Do any MR members live close to here and want to stop by on August 9th to pick one up for me? :) Its a long shot, but worth a try.

    Clueless school officials!

No wonder they're getting rid of the Apples, these people are clueless...

    Power PC 750s

Yeah, I don't remember the white, Power PC 750 laptop computer from Apple either. They say 'used iBooks" earlier and then refer to them as "Power PC 750" computers later. It's unclear from this announcement that the PowerPC (no space) 750s are the processors in the iBooks.

I can just hear the school board now--"We should really get some Dell's because this AppleWorks Operating System doesn't include a web browser. If we wanted to run Internet Explorer on an Apple computer, we'd have to get full-blown MacOS 9, and I don't think that it runs on these white Power PC 750 laptops that we bought--can you believe it, the support technician said that the Power PC 750 is really made by Motorola anyway. Motorola makes phones, not computers. I can't believe that Apple just sold us rebranded Motorola computers. We should never work with Apple again."

I'm there, wife and 3 teenage daughters. As far as Henrico County is concerned, a bunch of retards. However it is typical of school districts, ours actually just throw out dated computers into the local woods. Seriously, at the same time they were eliminating chalk because of the dust.

Wow, certainly wish I lived in VA. $50 for a 500mhz iBook is a freaking STEAL.
