Don't look now, but it looks like we're about to go through the whole federal court nominee/Senate filibuster hassle again:

Between Bush's announced plans and his mealy-mouthing, you just know trouble is brewing. The neo-cons adhere strongly to a variation on Murphy's law, namely: if there a way to cause trouble, they will cause trouble.

Yeah they're going to be looking to break this agreement ASAP. Their argument is that if you let Owens onto the bench, anyone who's not as conservative as her has to be given an up-or-down vote. Which is basically anyone. We'll see how the 14 senators manage this one.

Meanwhile, a Republican senator is set to deny an up-or-down vote on stem cells. Nice huh.

The Democrats really shot themselves in the foot on this one. Now they either have to pass these (could be) extremist judges or be accused by the Republicans of being back-stabbing deal-breakers. Way to go, Dems.
