Just a little suggestion for the GODS of macrumors...

I often find myself scrolling to the top of the forum to remember the username of the original poster (the comments make little sense without knowing his/her name).

Would there be a way to "colorize" the original poster's username in a specific forum, so that any further comments by him/her are obviously the OP's? Thanks for even mildly considering it.

If possible, this could be quite useful in the troubleshooting forums. :)

I like this idea. That would be great. Just not in all the forums only ones that it makes sense in.

i think this is a good idea as well... i often find myself scrolling all the way back to the top of the thread because i always forget who started it by the time i get to the end of the thread...

    My short term is shot!

Sounds like a good idea to me. I, too, find myself scrolling back to the top to recall who the OP was.

I think that post pretty much summed up why it should be done :)

It'd also be good to see if trolls actually respond to anything once they've started.

If nothing else, why not the member name next to the title?

That actually is a pretty good idea.

Maybe not a whole hilighted post, just a little crown icon or something next to their user name.

I'm actually quite surprised I've never came across that idea before...the simplicity of it, yet so usefull...absolutely brilliant.

Pretty easy to do too. Insert new field in the database titled "op".

Modify the thread posting so that when a thread is created, that user's name is put into the op field.

Then, in the template, fetch the data from the db, if($author == $op)....you get the idea...:)

Great idea. Elegant. I'm always having to scroll up, especially in longer threads. Well done, err, err . . .

so, now that lots of people have approved (which makes me very happy!), is there any chance of it happening? Do the moderators read these posts, and then consider making improvements to the site?

I hope so, as I think that would be awesome, I have noticed I have to go up and check them. :)

There must be something like it, right? Help a lot of us frequent trouble shooters. :)

The humour in that post is hilarious.

    Simply stunning.

I'd vote it for the post of the day as it actually made me laugh quite loud, and I'm going to bookmark this thread....

but alas you posted that yesterday....

    :D

    Thanks though,

Sorry to resurrect my own old thread, but I still think this would be such a useful feature...

Hey Arn, any chance of this becoming a reality? A little crown or something next to the OP's username?

I also like this idea. Can it be added to forum spy as well? Highlight somehow when the OP posts and the threads that we've posted in. I know it shows the ones that you are subscribed to, but I rarely subscribe to threads. It would be nice if it just did it automatically.

Another vote here for the implementation of this, would be incredibly usefull.

Oh, and highlighting threads you've posted on forum spy (as was said earlier) wouldn't hurt too. :p

It'd be a lot easier then tracking avatars.

If the user even has one.
