Hinge broken on TiBook

I have a Ti Powerbook G4 that is about 4.5 years old. Yeterday the hinge on the right side broke off, and since then the screen randomly shuts off. I rotated the broken hinge backward so I can still open and close the screen, whenever I open the screen it always works, but goes black after a few seconds. Does anybody have any solutions besides major repair work? I ordered an iMac to replace it but would like to salvage my laptop, any help would be greatly appreciated.
