Just picked up a Hitachi P7K500 3.5" 500 GB drive to use in a first generation iMac G5.. the machine has 2 GB of RAM, and the drive supposedly comes with SSC disabled.

When I run AJA System Test, I get a great read speed avg. of 93 MB/sec, but write speed doesn't want to go past 30-31 MB/sec, no matter how I play with the settings. Should I jumper it down to 1.5 GB/sec or get their setup tool and enable write caching?
