I am relatively new to the mac realm, and I am wondering if there is anything like a batch file in macs, like there are for PC's

I am wanting to do some copy and deleting of files, and i want to have them done by a script through the terminal. Apple script is kinda lame when it comes to stuff like that.

How would I have my computer to perform batch file like functions but on OS X

    any help would be appreciated.
