I haven't been able to find any benchmarks that compare the Geforce FX Go 5200 to the Radeon 9600 mobility 9600.

It is obvious that the Radeon 9600 will greatly outperform the Geforce 5200, but I would still like to see some nice graphs. Can anyone link to a performance comparison? Games benchmarks please, 3dmarks are blahhhh.

Not directly relevant, but perhaps illustrative is this link. This link compares the performance of the desktop GPU eqivalents on Half Life 2. As you can see, the Radeon 9600 chip crushes the Geforce 5200 chip. Since these are desktops, they won't tell the whole story though.

Well here is the Radeon 9600 vs. the FX 5600 go and it shows that even the 5600 is far behind in the mobile department. I would think the 9600 could embarress the 5200.

    GeForce FX

Isn't the FX 5200 faster than the old MX440?

    Re: GeForce FX

Yes, its the direct replacment for the the geforce4 mx. The 5600 targeted at the old ti4200 replacement, and so on.

    9200?

Why didn't they just put an ATi 9200?

Doesn't ATi have better support for Mac??

I read somewhere that Steve was mad at ATI and thats why the first 12 and 17 had nvidia cards. Who knows. I dont know if the 9200 is out in a mobile version or not. I think all there is the 9000 and 9600.

The geForce card in the 12" is a total deal breaker I think for many potential purchasers. It has atrocious performance in tests and just plain old real world use. I reall ywish Apple would toss it, and put something in it (9600) that makes the 12" truly a PowerBook and not an AL iBook.
