How can I remove the 90.2GB of "Other" storage under "About This Mac"

My 128 GB Mac Air has around 7GB left of storage, with 90GB of it being used as "other". I have removed all un-needed documents, downloads, applications and put music files/photos/videos on a hard drive. What could this 90GB be and how could I remove it?

Cheers

Download an application such as DaisyDisk to create an overview of where the largest files and folders are located.
You can then prioritise and determine what you can live without.

The figure is based on spotlight's index and can become way off the mark(it's a known, and still unfixed bug since Mavericks). Check disk utility for actual space remaining. Reindex spotlight and it should reflect what's actually on your computer.
