How come the Iphone can handle video better than the apple tv? I can stream MLB, internet sites, etc... on the Iphone, but not on the apple tv. Why? Surely the Iphone is not more powerful, it must be software??

For example, I don't understand how an Iphone can stream MLB but the Apple TV cannot? I know you have to install the hack to get boxee to run MLB (runs but choppy) on the Apple TV. The point is it can be done on an Iphone with flawless quality, but not on an apple tv. The same goes for internet sites. What is missing on the Apple Tv that Apple provides to the Iphone?

BTW, I love my apple tv, have two of them.:)

Keep in mind iPhone cost more.
But I would write to apple.com/feedback

Apple TV outputs higher resolution (needs more power)

Don't be so sure the iphone 3GS is weaker than the ATV. The ATV hardware wasn't even cutting edge in 2007 where as the 3GS can play back 720p and apparently can handle 1080p too. All this and it draws far less power than the ATV. This why it's likely the next ATV will be powered by a SoC ARM setup with multiple reprogrammable cores - it'll handle 1080p without breaking a sweat, have a PowerVR 3D chip for 3D effects and link through to the standard HDMI-optical outputs as now. It should require less power and be smaller than the current unit allowing either bigger hard drives or a reduction in size - or simply run cooler.
